Families

And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. Gen. 17:7

Father God we bring before You our families and ask that You fill our families with Your Holy Spirit. That they will have the mind of Christ to be guided by His thoughts and purposes. [1 Cor. 2:16] and will trust in the Lord with all their heart, leaning not on their own understanding;  In all their ways acknowledging Him daily, so He can direct their paths. [Prov. 3:5-6] We pray that they will be filled with love, being of one accord, of one mind allowing nothing to be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind letting each esteem others better than themselves. With each one looking out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others, [Phil. 2:1-4] working together united in Christ.  

We pray that they will be filled with love, suffering long and being kind; not envying others;  not parading themselves,  not puffed up;  not behaving rudely, not seeking its own, not being provoked, thinking no evil;  not rejoicing in iniquity, but rejoicing in the truth; bearing all things, believing all things, hoping all things, enduring all things. [1 Cor. 13:4-7] And this we pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment,  that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ,  being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. [Phil. 1:9-11]

We ask that by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies as living sacrifices, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. [Rom. 12:1-2]

We pray that wives will submit to their own husbands, as to the Lord.  For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. We ask that husbands will love their wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,  that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word. [Eph. 5:22-25]

Finally, we pray that families will be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Putting on the whole armor of God, that they may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. That they would take up the whole armor of God, that they may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Having girded their waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,  and having shod their feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;  above all, taking the shield of faith with which to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;  praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit. [Eph. 6:10-18]

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,  having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. [Eph. 1:3-6]
