Prayer4UKToday 24th May 2018
We join in the
30
Days of Prayer for the Muslim World – May 15th to 14th
June 2018
Ramadan started on the 15th of May for
30 days when Muslims fast through the day and feast after sunset. During this
time they spend time seeking God.
On Mount Nebo in Jordan, there is a giant cross and
serpent bronze sculpture, put there by the Franciscans. It is a powerful symbol as it stands at the place
where Moses looked into the Promised Land but never entered.
The sculpture combines the serpent (Numbers chapter
21) with the Cross of Christ. It is a clever portrayal of Jesus’ words to
Nicodemus; “Just
as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be
lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in Him.” John
3.14-15.
A memorial plaque at the site reads; “The Law was given
through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” John
1:17.
Lord we pray that today you would help us lift You
higher, so you are visible to our Muslim friends and neighbours and they will
be attracted by your grace and truth.
Father we ask that all Muslims who see the cross
and serpent sculpture will have a revelation of the truth.
“Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the
wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up.” John 3:14
We
pray that as Muslims set their hearts to worship and pray at this time, you
might give them a hunger to know you and
a revelation of who you are. May they see Jesus in a dream, a vision, a
visitation or Damascus road experience.
May
your kingdom come we pray. Amen
