Prayer 15th May 2018

O LORD, open our lips, and our mouth shall show forth Your praise. For You do not desire sacrifice, or else we would give it. You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart – these, O God, You will not refuse
(Psalm 51:15-17).

DAY SIX - Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us

Bless and thank the LORD

Blessed are You merciful God, who always longs to pour out His
forgiveness, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Bless You LORD for Your unfailing love and mercy. Thank You Heavenly Father, that when we draw near to You, the first thing we receive is mercy, and then grace to help us in times of need. Thank You Jesus for taking away all our iniquities.

Scripture Proclamation

Come now, let us settle the matter, says the LORD, though your sins are like scarlet they shall be as white as snow (Isaiah1:18).

Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
(John 1:29).

But He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our
iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him and by His wounds we are healed (Isaiah 53:5).

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness
(1 John 1:8-9).

Declaration

We declare that the Lord forgives all who truly repent. We declare that God is merciful to us, forgiving us although we do not deserve it. We declare that Jesus has done all He needed to do, in order for us to appropriate that forgiveness. We declare because of the shed blood of Jesus we can be cleansed of all our unrighteousness and wrong doing

Prayer

We pray that You help us all LORD to forgive others and not to hold to resentments and the pain we feel when others hurt us. We pray that the body of Christ will be able to bring those who have hurt us to You, and to release them into Your loving arms. We pray that the body of Christ will have the strength in the power of Your Holy Spirit to do that, to forgive others so that we can ourselves be forgiven. We pray that we will all get a deeper revelation of the power of forgiving those who have wounded us, and the freedom that brings.

Blessing

We bless believers to be released from offence and the wounds others have caused. We bless the church with healing to be released over all the living stones, that from this day forth people will go free. We bless the people of  this nation to learn to forgive, and to allow resentments to go. For the root of bitterness to be pulled out, and every spirit of anger to dissipate and we bless them with the healing oil of forgiveness.

We join in the
30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World – May 15th to 14th June 2018

Ramadan starts on the 15th of May for 30 days when Muslims fast through the day and feast after sunset. During this time they spend time seeking God.

Prayer for Muslims Day 1

Father, we pray that you would give us, your church, more of your heart of love and mercy for Muslims. Help us to be like Jesus, feeling compassion as he did for sheep without a shepherd. Give us opportunities and courage to tell Muslims of your great goodness and love. We pray that as Muslims set their hearts to worship and pray at this time, you might give them a hunger to know you and a revelation of who you are. May they see Jesus.

We pray that as they are hungry and thirsty you would show them Jesus who promised “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” We pray that as they give to the poor during Ramadan you would show them Jesus who “though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich”. Help them to see and come to know and treasure Jesus.

We pray that as they gather to break the fast and feast each evening, you would show them Jesus who invites them to draw near in faith and feast at his table. We thank you that we can pray these things in faith, believing that many Muslim peoples will be among the multitude “from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb” giving glory to you.

May your kingdom come we pray. Amen
